ECFC-NY Surf Soccer Club is committed to not only player development, but truly being a catalyst in helping its players fulfill their dreams of playing collegiate soccer and accessing higher education. Surf prides themselves on their vast history of sending countless student-athletes onto to play collegiate soccer. Surf continues to facilitate the transition between youth and collegiate soccer and looks forward to helping future Surf athletes reach their goals.
In the past 10 years, over $25 million in scholarships were awarded to the players of the Surf program. Players receive exposure to world class coaches and seen by over 1,000 college coaches each year.
SURF SC COLLEGE PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Education – We will facilitate NY Surf SC College Workshop nights led by our College Placement staff which will serve to educate players and families on every aspect of the college search process. The Surf SC College Advisory Panel will be a resource to help guide you along and answer the many questions that will arise as you search to find the perfect school for you. We will also host the “NY Surf SC College Events” to discuss different aspects of college soccer and the recruitment process, giving an opportunity to hear straight from top college coaches, admissions directors, and financial aid personnel. Players and families will also receive monthly newsletters from the NY Surf SC with varying information relevant to the college search process.
Encourage you to seek excellence – Statistics show that nearly 90% of high school seniors playing soccer in the US do not make it on to college soccer. With nearly 100,000 high school seniors in American soccer clubs, and 8,000 – 9,000 roster spots for incoming freshman each year open in college soccer, it is clear that making it to the next level will not be easy. NY Surf SC aims to help players understand the importance of training every day to improve on all aspects of their game. It is also important that players take the same approach in the classroom, and we will always be a reminder for the importance of grades and academic achievement in the recruiting process.
Finding a School – We’ll provide you with a framework by which you can start to gain clarity on what KIND of a school you are looking for and what kind of school will suit you best, so that you can bring greater focus to your search efforts. We will encourage you to be open-minded and consider schools from all divisions and in all parts of the country.
Communicating with Coaches – We realize that it can be difficult reaching out to college coaches. We aim to equip you with the knowledge to market yourself effectively and learn how to communicate with professionalism and confidence with college coaches.
Gaining Exposure – We are always seeking out the top college showcase events around the country for you to be seen by as many different coaches possible. The Surf Cup is one of the nation’s top showcase tournaments, which we are happy to be a part of together with our San Diego Surf affiliate network.
